George Newman Fuller was a leading historian of the state of Michigan.

Fuller was born in 1873, and attended Harvard University for his undergraduate degree probably graduating around 1896. He received the Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1912. He wrote a dissertation on on the early economic and social history of Michigan which (published in 1916 as The Economic and Social Beginnings of Michigan) was for decades the defining work on the subject. He was the impetus behind the foundation of the Michigan Historical Commission in 1916 and served as the commission's executive secretary and editor of the commission's publication Michigan History for three decades until 1946. He also was active in the Mississippi Valley Historical Association during the 1920s.

He died on February 8, 1957, at the age of eighty-three.
